I painted the room pink and then painted these whimsical elements so little Molly could have what will soon be some of her favorite things - like fairies, ballet, butterflies and flowers.

The central part of mural is a contemporary tree mural. Mural is done in popular color combination of pink and  chocolate brown - to coordinate with her modern crib and bedding.

Tropical Beach Mural in Master Bathroom - Takes You to Cozumel!

Tropical Ocean Beach Mural in Master Bath Tub Area

White Sand Beaches, Palm Trees and Lucious Green Waters make this a master bath where the owner can soak in the tub and dream about her great vacation to Cozumel and Tulum, Mexico. Using my client's vacation photos, I created her dream bathroom. This tropical mural includes beach chairs, a thatched hut, a para sail, the Tulum ruins and (most importantly!) the iguana that approached her tour group.

Kitchen Mural of Tuscan Storefront - Elmhurst, Illinois

Tuscan Kitchen

 Mural Idea

Using my client's own photos of Tuscany, as inspiration, I painted one full wall in her kitchen to look like it is a quaint shop in Tuscany. Typical of a Tuscan fruit market-this mural includes assorted fuits and vegetables, dried pasta, garlic peppers and much more. Terra cotta pots are filled with colorful flowers.

Giraffes, elephants, leopards, orangutans, rhino and lion cubs fill this Safari 'travel' themed baby nursery with wonder!

The animals, painted in a realistic style, will entertain the baby boy for many, many years. Several of the animals were actually based on photos that the father took on a photo safari to Africa.

Every wall in this sunny nursery are painted as part of the mural - giving one the feeling that they have just walked into the jungles of Africa. Luke can see monkeys, chimps, elephants, zebras, giraffes and more - and all from his crib!

Dance Themed Mural Ideas - Featuring 2 Dance Studio Murals

Need great decorating ideas for you daughter's (home) dance studio?

9 year old Rini's parents added a dance studio off her bedroom so that Rini could dance her feet silly! To make this addition perfect for a young girl or teenager, I used the designs on her bedding as 'inspiration'. I painted an arched entrance to her studio with contemporary designs and added lots of glitter - because a girl can never have too much bling!

Inside the studio, I painted a 'glittered' quote and sky with clouds and lovebirds.

In this dance studio (in a private residence in South suburbs of Chicago) I painted a whimsica audience, complete with trompe l'oeil draperies.

It's the perfect, fun  mural in this dance studio, built in family's newly finished basement. The colors reflect the warm Tuscan colors in family room.

Note: I used very sparkly glitter on the 'chandelier' hanging in center of mural!

California Vineyard Mural, Painted in Grocery Store

 

 

While in the process of renovating their new grocery store (Artisanal - Wilmette, Illinois), the owners uncovered a brick wall and window.  Since this 'brick wall' was in the wine room, they decided it was the perfect spot to paint a California vineyard!

I painted this mural in one day.  So that you feel you are truly looking at a fabulous view from Artisanal's wine room, I added a Trompe L'oeil shutter.

I only wished I lived in Wilmette instead of Elmhurst.  Artisanal sounds like it's going to be fabulous!

Impressionistic Doors Give Bathroom the Feeling of Provence, France!

Impressionistic Doors - A great decorating idea for your bathroom

I painted fun, whimsical French doors in this bathroom.  I faux finished walls in a sunny yellow and  added 'broken out bricks', for a French Country feel that the customer loved!

 

Customers had a 'real door knob' on wall next to sink, that they use to hang a hand towel on occasion. I painted this knob to be part of the door mural.

Underwater Fish Nursery Mural - Great Baby Boy Decorating Idea!

All four walls and ceiling were painted to transform this (formerly guest bedroom) into an underwater world!

There are dolphins on the ceiling, whales (over the crib) spelling out the baby's name in bubbles, a sunken ship, submarine, adorable fish and the cutest turtle you've ever seen!

Chianti Vineyards and Villas - Staircase Mural

I painted this mural in a staircase that led, from the family's kitchen, to their lower level. They wanted to sit at their kitchen table and feel like they were looking out to the rolling hillsides of Tuscany!

Columns, balusters and a grapes all add to the rustic, Italian look.

The hillsides are dotted with Villas, lakes, fields of hay and, of course, grape vineyards and olive trees.

Mother Goose, Nursery Rhyme - Nursery Mural

Using several of the mom's favorite, classic Nursery Rhyme illustrations for 'inspiration' - I created this fun and 'visually' stimulating nursery mural. The main nursery rhyme is Hey diddle diddle but I have also included several other popular nursery rhyme elements like Humpty Dumpty, the lambs (from Little Boy Blue), the shoe (from the Old Lady Who Lived In A Shoe) and, of course - Mother Goose herself, riding on a whimsical goose!

Window Mural - Beautiful Chianti Region of Tuscany

After my recent trip to the Chianti region of Italy (where I took over 1,000 photos!) I knew that I had to paint a 'Tuscan Vineyard View' in my living room.

I was amazed that every square foot of Chianti looks like something that should be on a post card.  The view that I have painted was taken just a few feet from our Villa.

Using 'baby friendly' paints I transformed this beautiful, sunny room into a sweet baby nursery. 

I painted the walls & trim with Benjamin Moore's Natura (No VOC paint) and painted the mural with 'non toxic' acrylic paints.

The mural features Snoopy & Woodstock (wearing green striped Celtic's scarves) - flying a plane with the Celtic's logo- with puffy clouds!

This nursery, for twin boys, had a lot of furniture!

After painting very large animals (in every free space I could find!) the room looked much bigger. 

The Reason? The 'painted animals' bring your eye to small areas of wall that would have 'disappeared' otherwise.

Great Idea For 3 Little Boys, Sharing a Room!

 
 
'Dad' works for Northwestern  and their 3 boy's love trains - so I painted a track around the room.

I made sure that each boy had a fun element over his bed (or crib).

There was the main locomotive,  caboose, train depot and a lot more - including a Train Bulletin, with each boy's name, date and time of their birth. 

When I finished the mural, the boys were jumping on the beds and screaming with joy!
